Prepare for Your Stay in Germany
At My German Dream Academy, we support international students who want to come to Germany to learn German through a language learning visa.
Our academy offers structured German courses from A1 to C1, flexible learning options, and personal support throughout the enrollment process. Whether you are planning to study German for future work opportunities, university preparation, or everyday life in Germany, we help you build a strong language foundation step by step.
The language visa or residence permit is generally granted for the duration of the intensive German course, up to a maximum period of 12 months.
During this time, students may usually work part-time for up to 20 hours per week, depending on the applicable immigration regulations and individual visa conditions.

Important Visa Information
For a German language visa, applicants are generally required to enroll in an intensive German course with daily lessons and a minimum of approximately 18 lessons per week.
Evening-only and weekend-only courses are generally not considered sufficient for this type of visa.
Applicants are also usually required to demonstrate sufficient financial resources for their stay in Germany, for example through a blocked account (Sperrkonto) or a declaration of commitment.
Requirements may vary depending on the German embassy or consulate responsible for the application.
Proof of Financial Resources
Applicants are generally required to demonstrate sufficient financial resources for the duration of their stay in Germany.
This is commonly done through:
- a blocked account (Sperrkonto)
- or a formal declaration of commitment (Verpflichtungserklärung)
As a general reference, the required amount for a blocked account is approximately €1,091 per month in 2026. Requirements may change depending on German regulations and the responsible embassy.
We recommend checking the latest official information directly with the German embassy or consulate in your country before applying.
Sprachvisum — FAQ
- Can I work in Germany on a Sprachvisum?
- Yes. Under the current rules, holders of a Sprachvisum may work up to 20 hours per week alongside their language studies. We always recommend confirming the latest regulations with your local Ausländerbehörde before booking flights.
- What language level do I need to apply for the visa?
- The Sprachvisum (also called “Sprachkursvisum”) typically requires enrolment in an intensive German course of at least 18 hours per week, with a target of A1 or A2 by the end of the visa period. Our A1 / A2 blocks meet this criterion and we issue the enrolment confirmation you submit to the German consulate.
- How long does the Sprachvisum last?
- Three to twelve months, depending on the consulate decision and your enrolment plan. We can tailor your course duration to match.
- Can the Sprachvisum be converted to a study or work visa later?
- It can be the first step toward a longer stay (Studienkolleg, university enrolment, vocational training), but conversion is not automatic. The decision rests with the Ausländerbehörde based on your level achieved, the next program you enrol in, and current immigration policy.
- Do you provide enrolment confirmation for the visa application?
- Yes. After payment of the course fee, we issue an official enrolment confirmation in PDF that meets German consulate requirements (course title, weekly hours, duration, school address, AZAV registration number).
This page is informational. We are a language school, not an immigration adviser. Always verify current visa rules with the German consulate in your country and your local Ausländerbehörde once you arrive.
